Welcome to Burton Wold Wind Farm South
Burton Wold Wind Farm is going through various stages of development. The first stage started in 2005 with the construction of ten 100m tall Enercon E70 turbines. The second stage; the construction of nine 132.5m tall GE turbines to the north of the original wind farm was completed in 2014.
Infinergy obtained planning consent for a third stage - a further five turbines to the south, on land belonging to the neighbouring landowner. Later the company applied for a change in the project and looked to reduce the number of turbines from five to three and to increase their height from 100 to 136.5m. This would result in a better overall power output generated by fewer turbines.
At their planning meeting in March 2015, Kettering Borough Council's planning committee gave the plans for the revised Burton Wold Wind Farm South the go ahead, following their officer's recommendation for approval. Infinergy started construction in September 2016. The aim is to have the project fully operational by March 2017. Two partners have come on board in the project; renewable energy investors WWS and Muirhall Energy.
The three new wind turbines have now been installed. If you experience issues with your TV reception, please contact us. It is possible that our wind turbines cause interference. If so, we will put mitigation measures in place in order to solve the issues.
